Late Globacom staff, Folake Abiola

The social media was abuzz over the death of Folake Abiola, a chartered accountant with telecommunications giant, Globacom who reportedly committed suicide over extreme depression. Unconformed report revealed that Folake who lived at No 1, Abayomi Kukomi Close, Osapa London, Lekki area of Lagos State allegedly drank a chemical substance suspected to be (sniper) insecticide because she has no child and a husband.
Although a family member who craved anonymity told NATIONAL WAVES that Folake committed suicide because she was involved in two different relationships that collapsed in recent times.
The 47-year-old accountant committed suicide at her residence.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said police operatives visited Abiola’s house and met her lifeless body on the floor.
He added that the late Glo accountant was buried last Friday according to Islamic rites.
Hundeyin said: “The moment the police in that area were alerted, they arrived at the scene and met the woman lifeless on the floor. A bottle of insecticide was also found by her, apparently, she had ingested that insecticide.
“The family members that were there officially wrote to the divisional police officer requesting for the release of the corpse to enable them to bury her in accordance with Islamic rites and the corpse was released to the family on compassionate grounds.
“She has since been buried, she was buried on May 27,” the police spokesperson stated.
