A drama played out in Adonta, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State last Friday when youths prevented Hon Ndudi Elumelu, the member representing Aniocha Oshimili Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, from entering their community over poor performance.
The angry youths barricaded the entrance to the community, preventing Elumelu and his convoy from entering the community to campaign.
Recall that a few months ago, the youths of Okoa kingdom in Oshimili South and Idumu-ogo in Aniocha North, respectively, also chased Elumelu away for poor performance.
The Oko kingdom, which also frowned at his poor representative, lamented the lack of basic amenities, especially roads, despite being closer to Asaba.
Elumelu and his campaign team went to the community to hold a rally when the youth barricaded the road with wood, chanting “Elumelu will not enter our community, go back”
One of the aggrieved youths, simply identified as Ameachi Uwa, described Elumelu as a selfish lawmaker
“Elumelu is a failure, he is not even ashamed to come to our community seeking for votes again. He does not deserve our votes again,” he said.
“He failed to deliver dividend of democracy to the people for about 20 years that we have voted for him. He is seeking for our votes for the fourth term with nothing to show for the third term he has done”
“No road, no water, electricity and other amenities in our community for the 24 of PDP government in the state and now he’s coming again to ask for our vote.
“Elumelu has been tested but not trusted, therefore, he does not deserve our votes and we will not allow him to enter our community”
