Bauchi state government has declared that it will resist the use of substandard materials by the contractors handling the ongoing mass housing project in the state.
The State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Hon. Hamisu Mu’azu Shira disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi on his recent inspection visit to the sites of the ongoing housing project in Bauchi, Dass, Ningi, Azare and Jamaare.
Shira who was satisfied with the level of work so far and the materials used in the execution of the project, called on the contractors to maintain the tempo.
According to him, the Ministry alongside other stakeholders will ensure regular monitoring and inspection of the project in order to be completed and executed within the stipulated period.
” So far so good, because in all the sites I visited, the project is actually going on smoothly and it clearly shows that, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, (Kauran Bauchi) is working.
” Many people said a lots that the mass housing project is a political statement that will not be happened, but today Alhamdulillah, the project is feasible, everybody can see and even touch it.”
The Commissioner explained that, the non commencement of the project in Misau Local government area was as a result of the change of land earlier allocated.
He said to this end, Governor Bala Mohammed has released 17 million naira for the payment of compensation to the owners of new land acquired near faculty of Law of the State University in Misau town.
” Actually, the reason for the delay in the commencement of the project in Misau is due to the change of land, His Excellency, the Governor during his visit to the site directed that we should change it to other place that will be so suitable to the beneficiaries.”
” Our Governor deserves to be commended and honoured because of the achievements recorded within the shortage period of time.”
Honorable Hamisu Shira noted that, a number of unemployed youth been engaged to participate in the execution of housing units, solicited for renew support to the present administration to accelerate performance.
