‘Getting into stardom in showbiz could be literally compared to a Carmel passing through the eye of a needle. Another hurdle is to remain relevant for years. This could be one of the reasons why few musicians have maintained their cool to really do some homework before coming out with an album’.
These were the words is of General Kollington Ayinla who currently preferred to be adressed as the Asiwaju of Fuji music.
In a chat with National WAVES recently in Lagos, the Kebe kwara exponent further stated that he has no rival in Fuji music.
Kollington, a rare star is the undisputed Bata Fuji King, he is popularly known and called by his numerous fans as minister of current affairs/enjoyment, an authoritarian musician/ commentator of current affairs and holder of many chieftaincy titles from paramount traditional rulers and social clubs.
Born 70 years ago to late Chief Ilori, a kingmaker in Ilota, Kwara State, Kollington stated that apart from Late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister who started and came to prominence almost the same time with him, no other fuji musician can lay claim to be the Fuji King.
When he was reminded of King Wasiu Ayinde “The Mayegun General of Fuji musicians” Kollington quickly responded “who installed him (Wasiu) as Mayegun General?
’Wasiu’s contemporaries do complain of his pomposity please go and listen to my new album titled “Yuppy Daddy” you will find your answers to all these questions. For your information, Gbolohan Anifowese popularly known as K1 is my boy in all ramifications and am quite sure he cannot dispute this unless he want to eat his pounded yam as ordinary yam and further more I am now the Asiwaju of Fuji musicians because I started Fuji music from zero level to hero level I thank God for his mercies’.
He stated further that he knows Wasiu Ayinde in and out and they are not close even when his friend, Dr sikiru Ayinde was alive
“I always keep away from him because of his character and disrespectfulness to elders and I do not condone nonsense” he concluded.
