Aliko Dangote
The Bauchi State Government has reacted to rumours making the rounds that said that Governor Bala Mohammed positive result to Coronavirus disease was as a result of his visit to Dangote. The Bauchi government said the governor’s status has no connection whatsoever with the visit by to Aliko Dangote.
In a statement by the Chief of Staff to Governor Mohammed, Mr. Ladan Saliu, explained that the Bauchi governor and his team met with Dangote hours before they boarded the flight in which he met the son of Atiku.
Saliu was reacting to stories in some section of the social media which suggested that Governor Mohammed picked the COVID-19 from his visit to Aliko Dangote’s office in Lagos.
The Bauchi state government described the sequencing of the story as mind-boggling, stressing that the truth remains that the Governor and his team met Alhaji Aliko Dangote at 1pm in his office and left for lunch at 2pm.
Saliu said; “We boarded Aero flight at 6pm same day, where Gov Bala met Mohammed Atiku. I was with them in the Business Class. They sat next to each other separated only by the isle and they shook hands.
“It was Governor Bala, who directed that we must all be tested when he saw the story of the young man being rushed to hospital with his family.
“Six of us were screened along with the Governor and members of the Governor’s family.
“The Governor was positive. Clearly, he was infected through his contact with the known index carrier. As a Nation we must all unite and be positive and supportive to each other on the way out. Lies are unhelpful,” Saliu insisted
