The Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, has said the former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole started his career as a tailor while he was a board chairman of a reputable company.
He stated this while responding to questions from a reporter with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Pidgin English.
The reporter had asked Ighodalo to react to Oshiomhole’s submission that he is not electable, does not understand the people, does not understand Edo State, cannot speak the language of his village. Ighodalo replied “Comrade is my senior, so I get to respect his age but what he said weren’t true, sometimes, the man talks before he thinks. Let me ask you a question, I was an Adviser in his Economic Team, so if what he said were true how did I do that for eight years?
The BBC reporter prodded further “Being an Economic Team adviser is different from knowing the people”? Ighodalo responded “How did Oshiomhole start? He started as a tailor before he became a governor. I didn’t say he cannot be governor because he started as a tailor. I was board chairman of a company that employed over 10,000 people, our experiences differ, I was a board chairman, he was tailor” Asue said with a note of finality.
