Hell was let loose at the Marina head office of the United Bank For Africa (UBA) as pensioners took a swipe at the chairman of the bank, Mr Tony Elumelu, over poor pension payments.
The pensioners lampooned Elumelu for his lack of empathy and accused him of insensitivity to their plight,
Some of the pensioners were seen in the video protesting at the head office of the bank in Marina, Lagos penultimate Monday. They lamented about their poor treatment and demanded significant increase in their pensions.
The pensioners complained that for eleven (11) years running, UBA Management has refused to add N1.00 to their monthly pension.
They stated that the majority of them (about 80%) earn between N10,000 and N15,000 per month.
According to them, “Last month, August 2024, UBA Management offered to increase our pensions by 20% per month, which is about N2,000 after so many disappointments.
“This is very insensitive of the Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Tony Elumelu and his team!
“We need the whole world to prevail on Mr. Elumelu to save the souls of these builders of the EMPIRE he is now enjoying by paying them a living pension.”
The pensioners, according to reports, are asking the nanagement to pay them henceforth N70,000 minimum pension and medical.
The management of the Bank had yet to respond to the demands of the pensioners/retirees as of the time of filing this report
