A drama of monumental proportion played out in Ibadan, the ancient capital city of Oyo State as three men claimed the paternity of two children, claiming to be married to the same woman, Taiba Raman at the same time.
The controversy got to a head as Taiba, admitted having sex with the men simultaneously.
The men were said to have settled the debt incurred by Taiba as directed by her mother and had an affair with her.
Bubble burst when two of the men who claimed to be the fathers of a child discovered that the children were given to another man, who staunchly insisted of being the father of the children.
Speaking on a radio program, Sharafa, one of the claimants, disclosed that he paid off Taiba’s debt as directed by her mother.
However, after the birth of their first child, someone else contested the paternity, leading to a police investigation.
Taiba gave a different versions while writing statements about the child’s father and this led into confusion.
Similarly, Oseni, another contender, claimed paternity of the second child, recounting how Taiba lived with him for eight months after paying off part of her debt.
He claimed that Taiba falsely informed him of a miscarriage, only to later discover that she gave birth to the child for another man.
Rauf, the third man involved, expressed shock at discovering Taiba’s relationships with the other two men. Despite the revelation, he adamantly maintained his claim as the father of both children.
Taiba in her defense, affirmed Rauf as the true father of the children, despite her simultaneous marriages and relationships with all three men.
