On account of the rising insecurity, kidnapping, and incessant attacks on residents in Abuja by bandits, The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner for Public Complaint Dalhatu Ezekiel has asked the Federal Government to prioritize FCT’s security situation and immediately declare a state of emergency.
He disclosed this on Monday while speaking at a press briefing organized to address the insecurity in the FCT.
Dalhatu also called on the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to suspend all projects currently ongoing if need be to address this pertinent issue that involves the lives of FCT residents.
This is as he called for the setting up of a civilian joint task force as an alternative means of combating insecurity in rural areas.
In a similar development, Kidnappers, who abducted 10 people from Sagwari Estate Layout at Dutse in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on January 7, 2024, have killed two more of the abductees to send a strong warning to their relatives negotiating ransom payment.
From information gathered, after killing some of the kidnap victims, the bandits increased their demand from the initial N60 million per person to N100 million, now totalling N700 million.
Residents said the victims were allegedly killed over the delay in raising the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.
It was also gathered that a 13-year-old secondary school student, identified as Folorunsho Ariyo, was among those killed.
