Sokoto Saves N1.6bn From Ghost Workers, Job Racketeers.

The Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal is one leader who abhors corruption with all sincerity and this was evident in his transparent manner of running the state. For instance, the state government saved over N1.6bn as a result of uncovering ghost workers and job racketeers.

The exercise under the watch of Governor Tambuwal took place between October 2019 and May 2020, with over 1,370 ghost workers were uncovered.

This was revealed in a report presented to Governor Aminu Tambuwal by the committee on Harmonised Sokoto State Staff List at Government House on Thursday.

Receiving the report, Governor Tambuwal, directed that the same exercise should be conducted simultaneously on local government staff in Tambuwal, Kware and Sokoto North local government areas of the state.

Tambuwal said, “This exercises is intended to sanitise the salary system.”

This feat, he pointed out, had placed the  state among those leading system in the operation of automated payroll system in the country.
