It was glitz, glamour and spledour when Mercy, the adorable wife of the publisher of Global News Magazine, Segun Ogunbunmi celebrated her 40th birthday.
The effervescent woman while celebrating her new age launched her pet project, a foundation for the widow, the Mercy Ogunbunmi Foundation. Her NGO will offer free medical services, as well as essential material and cash gifts to widows.
The foundation was launched last Sunday, Novenber 6, 2022. It was officially launched to commemorate her 40th birthday.
Dozens of less privileged widows were empowered at the event held at Austeno Multipurpose Hall, Obawole, Iju, Lagos State.
During the event, free blood pressure and sugar level tests were conducted for the widows, and free treatments administered where necessary. Cash and other gifts were also handed to each of the widows.
According to the visioneer, Mrs Mercy Ogunbunmi, the foundation was borne out of her passion to help the needy, widows and other vulnerable persons in the society.
The outreach exercise, according to her, will be more on a regular basis, particularly to the widows.
She said “This vision was borne out of compassion to help the needy who are less privileged, and most especially widows who are saddled with the sudden responsibility of taking care of their families,”
