Farooq Kperogi, a Nigerian-American professor, has called on President Bola Tinubu to sack the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, over her alleged involvement in N585 million scandal.
Recall that Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, asked the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein to send public funds to a private account belonging to Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, identified as a project manager by the minister.
Although, Edu has absolved herself of any wrongs regarding the N585 million scandal, attributing her ordeals to have emanated from fifth columnists, Farooq in an article on his social media handle on Saturday affirmed that the regulation said public money should not, under any circumstance, be paid into private bank accounts
He asserted that if Tinubu did not fire Edu forthwith and bring her to justice, he had already lost the moral high ground to try “Buhari’s corrupt honchos.”
The professor stated that some of the crimes Buhari’s people committed in his eight-year reign were reappearing now, adding that Betta Chimaobim Edu, the successor to Sadiya Umar Farouq had started the same pattern of handling public funds, as done by her predecessor.
