Rev. Yakubu Pam Emerges NATIONAL WAVES’ Apostle of Hope Personality 2024

No doubt Rev. Yakubu Pam, the immediate past Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), and Founder, YACPIC Nigeria laid an unprecedented record at NCPC.

It is based on his unprecedented achievements at NCPC that the award selection committee and editorial board bestowed him with the Apostle of Hope Personality 2024.

According to the Editor-in-Chief of NATIONAL WAVES Newspaper & Magazine, Jimmy Enyeh, Reverend Pam’s nomination was arrived at after a painstaking public opinion poll and a thorough scrutiny of his activities.

“There is no gainsaying that you have carved a niche for yourself among your contemporaries on account of your innovative and transparent leadership styles which you exhibited when you held sways as the Executive Secretary of NCPC. You eradicated corruption at the commission and reoriented the mindset of the people as regards honesty and transparency

“You ensured that staff were paid as at when due, regular training of staff and welfare of staff were sacrosanct to you

” You also achieved unprecedented feat via the production of NCPC maiden in flight entertainment video, which helped to entertain pilgrims while on board which removed boredom on fight. You introduced Jordan as a pilgrimage destination option. This was a child of necessity on account of the prolonged closure of Israel borders against international travels” part of the nomination letter signed by the NATIONAL WAVES Publisher reads.

Rev. Pam is a theologian, preacher of the gospel, consummate and accomplished administrator, peace builder, leader of leaders, detribalized Nigerian, and reconciliator par excellence.

Born on February 20, 1960, to a humble family in Giyel, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, the Home of Peace and Tourism, it is natural to assert that Rev. Yakubu Pam is of Berom extraction. From a young age, Pam aspired to become a national figure and icon, not sacrificing the opportunity to acquire western education.

He enrolled in Giyel Local School Board (LSB) in 1972 for his primary education and graduated in 1979. His quest for education led him to the Teacher’s College, Zawan, Plateau State, from 1981 to 1986. Although he attended a Teacher’s College, his interest in spiritual matters propelled him to Northern Nigeria Bible School, Saminaka, Kaduna State, where he earned a diploma in Theology between 1988 and 1991, setting the stage for his career and calling in ministry.

Pam’s dedication to education continued as he enrolled in Evangel Theological Seminary, Jos, earning a Degree in Christian Education in 2004. Over the years, he accumulated a wealth of work experience. In 1987, he was a PTA teacher at the local primary school in Tachei, Giyel, Jos. He has been a pastor with Assemblies of God, Nigeria, from 1988 to date, serving as a sectional leader, district coordinator for Sunday school, and district superintendent for Jos mainland. He eventually became the pioneer General Superintendent of the Assembly of God Church, Northern Nigeria.

Pam’s rise to prominence began in 2003 when he was elected Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Plateau State chapter, a position he held until 2006. His tenure was marked by significant achievements, including his bold public stance before a sitting President of Nigeria, exemplifying his courage and commitment to his faith.

In 2008, Pam was elected Chairman of the CAN North Central Zone, which includes Plateau State, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Benue, Kwara, and FCT, serving until 2015. In 2016, he was elected Chairman of CAN for the 19 Northern states and still holds the position. He is also a member of the President in Council of CAN.

In 2013, Pam was elected National Vice President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). As the third substantive Executive Secretary of the NCPC, he has been a member of the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York, USA, since 2007.

Pam has held several strategic appointments in Plateau State, including Chairman of the Plateau State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, member of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Council, member of the Plateau State Education Board (2004-2006), and member of the Plateau State Tsunami Fund Raising Committee (2004-2005).

As a member of the Arewa Elder’s Forum and Zamunta International, USA, Pam was appointed Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission on July 7, 2020, with the appointment taking effect from June 26, 2020. In this role, he oversaw the national regulatory body for Christian pilgrimage in Nigeria, 3 and half years.

Pam is a bridge builder and lover of humanity, with a predilection for traveling. He has visited Israel, Italy, the United States of America, United Kingdom, France, South Africa, the Netherlands, Kenya, Ghana, Jordan, Turkey, among other countries. He is a writer and co-author of the book “Fighters of Peace,” advocating for peaceful coexistence, national unity, and interfaith harmony.

Rev. Yakubu Pam is currently the CEO/ President of YACPIF, an NGO whose mission is to prevent conflicts and achieve and sustain peace, through a community approach. Rev Pam is a role model in all spheres of life, including family life. He is happily married to Pastor Mrs. Lucy Pam, and they are blessed with four children.
