Justice Margaret Igbeta, a retired President of the Benue State Customary Court of Appeal, who was years back entangled in a N800 million proxy account scandal has been murdered by yet-to-apprenhended assassins.
Her decomposing body was discovered by her son in her Makurdi, Benue residence.
It was gathered that the remains of the retired jurist which was already in a bad state were discovered Thursday evening in a pool of blood in her home located at No. 1, Wantor Kwange Street, Opposite College of Medicine, Benue State University, BSU, Makurdi.
Sources informed this newspaper that her remains indicated that she must have been killed days before her corpse was discovered on Thursday.
As at the time of filling this report, the police were investigating the matter to unravel the masterminds of the murder.
Recall that Justice Igbeta was alleged to have kept a whopping N800 million in her house help bank account by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
The ICPC, had in September of that year dragged her before an Abuja High Court over a proxy bank account she allegedly operated in the name of her housemaid which had a fix deposit of over N800 million.
The anti-graft agency sought an order of the court to forfeit the money to the federal government
