Nigerian football lovers can now heave a sign of relief over inability of DSTV to get hosting rights to cover the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)
as Satellite broadcasting outfit, StarTimes, has announced that it would broadcast live matches of the 2024 AFCON live to Nigerians following its acquisition of the event’s exclusive broadcast rights for the country.
The Africa Cup of Nations will kick off in Cote d’Ivoire on January 13 with Nigeria’s Super Eagles beginning their campaign the next day against Equatorial Guinea.
Speaking on the competition, which brings together Africa’s best football-playing countries in five Ivoirian cities, the outfit said it has acquired the rights to the championship and all CAF events held in 2024 in Anglophone and Lusophone countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, including CHAN 2024 and AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
It said the strategic acquisition cements its commitment to delivering premium sports content to its viewers and reinforces its position as a leading player in the African media landscape.
