Late President Pierre Nkurunziza

President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi is dead. This is according to a statement released by the government of Burundi.
Going by a statement on Twitter,President Nkurunziza died today after suffering a heart attack.
He was aged 55.
There had been speculations about his health in the past 48 hours after his wife was moved to South Africa for COVID-19 related illness.
