Feelers emanating from the National Assembly regarding the nomination of former legal adviser of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Muiz Banire as chairman of the governing board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria is not a palatable one, this is because the three senators from Banire’s home state, Lagos, namely Senators Gbenga Ashafa, Oluremi Tinubu and Solomon Olamilekan signed a petition to senate president, Bukola Saraki stating reasons why his appointment should not be confirmed by the senate.
The petition which was submitted by Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan, Lagos West has been referred to the Ethic and Privileges Committee which is expected to submit its report in two weeks
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari recently appointed Muiz Banire SAN as chairman of the governing board of the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria.
Saraki, at a recent plenary read Buhari’s letters to the lawmakers in which he sought the confirmation of Banire
Sources informed National WAVES that this recent development may be as a result of the frosty relationship between Banire and APC leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
