What perhaps could be indisputably said to be the wedding of the year took place between Nollywood star actress, Regina Daniels and billionaire politician, Ned Nwoko penultimate Sunday in Asaba, Delta State.
Ned Nwoko, an international lawyer and former member of the House of Representatives from Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, stormed Asaba town in a glittering black Rolls Royce, amongst many other exotic cars for the ceremony.
Among those who accompanied Ned to the eventful ceremony were some of his expatriate friends, selected close relations and a few palace chiefs including the Iyase of the Idumuje, Ugboko, Chief Chris Ogwu.
Regina‘s mother, Rita Daniel, her uncle who stood in for her biological father as well as all her siblings were present to give their blessings to the marriage.Ned had wanted a quiet marriage ceremony but was blown out of proportion due to his celebrity status.
“Ordinarily Prince Nwoko had wanted a lowkey wedding but as soon as he and his entourage landed Asaba, some of his supporters sighted him and stormed the wedding venue thereby making it an elaborate ceremony,” a source who was at the ceremony informed National WAVES.
For Ned and Regina their heartfelt dreams have finally come true. It all started weeks back when the 19-year-old actress bought a house, an eye-popping palatial mansion located on Okpanam road behind a popular hotel, Swiss Spirit Hotel, in Asaba, the Delta State capital for her mum, Rita Daniels. She also flaunted a wristwatch which according to her cost N3.3million.
Regina took to her Instagram page on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, and shared a photo of the new beautiful duplex she bought for her mother.
There was also a recent media report that Regina Daniels acquired a posh Ferrari just days after her marriage to Prince Nwoko. However, a source very close to Regina revealed that the car was actually not a new acquisition; rather it was one of the exotic cars in Nwoko’s fleet.
“Regina is now married to Ned and has full access to all Ned’s exotic cars. All she needs to do from now is just stroll down the garage, choose whichever car of her fancy and go for a ride. It is as simple as that,” said our source.
Regina came into limelight as a seven-year-old, featuring in a slew of Nollywood movies. Her mother, Rita, is also an actress. Regina is a mass communication student of the Igbinedion University, Benin.
Ned and Regina’s marriage has generated widespread attention and mixed feelings. Ned is 58 years old while Regina is 19. Some critics have raised eyebrows over the love tango based on the 39-year age gap. They view the engagement as incongruous and totally strange. Others have, however, given thumbs-up for the love-struck duo, celebrating the affair as permissible since the two are consenting adults entitled to privacy and preference.
According to the proponents of the union, neither Ned Nwoko nor Regina Daniel had broken any law of the land since the relationship aligned with the established legal age of matrimony which is 18, and even the religious inclination of Ned. He is a Muslim.
“Prince Ned Nwoko’s engagement to Regina Daniels is a celebrity love story reminiscent of the famous tie between iconic Biafran warlord, late Chukwuemeka Odemegwu and the ex-beauty queen Bianca Onoh, who got married in 1994,” said a source.
“Ojukwu then was over 60 years and Bianca was in her 20’s. Engagements/marriages among older men and younger females abound worldwide and have existed since ages,” he said.
Another marriage with wide age gap is that of Alhaji Rasaq Okoya and his lovely wife, Shade. Some critics raised eyebrows when the marriage was consummated but today the union is blessed with lovely children to the admiration of many.
The story of Prince Nwoko is a tale of grit and grace. A source who is very close to Nwoko simply describes him as the modern-day M. K O. Abiola and Atiku Abubakar combined with wealth, wives and politics.
Apart from Ned’s love life, his philanthropic gesture knows no bounds, Ned who recently won a lawsuit to claim his stolen mandate as senator representing Delta North Senatorial District recently doled out N90 million as scholarship grants for Anioma indigene students. He also supported the re-election of Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, allegedly spending over half a billion naira to personally drive the process,
He recently spent a whopping N100 million to rehabilitate the Idumuje Ugboko-Onitcha Ugbo road in Delta State, linking the South-south and South-east to Northern Nigeria.
He was instrumental and played a vital role to secure the Paris and London Club loan refunds. He owns the biggest private resort in the Niger Delta, Mount Ned, a breathtaking tourism destination with amazing exotic architecture and the rarest collection of wildlife.
Ned is undoubtedly a lover of education; he is the chancellor of Stars University which is excepted to commence operation in September and located in his Idumuje-Ugboko homeland, and the first sports university in sub-Saharan Africa.
Numerous widows, artisans and local farmers are said to have benefited from his generous financial care as they often troop to his Idumuje-Ugboko country home for assistance.
He did not stop there, he spent another N70 million on the employment of the unemployed. He also donated N100 million on Project Tourism and has a large investment in properties home and abroad.
Ned is one man who is endowed with considerable wealth, wives and immense political acumen.
