Job seekers have invaded the
job application portal of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited culminating to the shut down of the portals for hours on Friday.
The issue arose in the wake of the NNPC’s announcement of a major recruitment exercise for various positions within the organisation.
NNPC on Friday, unveiled its new recruitment drive, inviting applications from qualified candidates across the country.
The application period is set to close on August 20, 2024, prompting a significant rush to access the portal.
Gathered that the site later came back up after some hours.
Addressing the issue on X, NNPC stated that its technical team was actively working to resolve the problem.
The statement read: “Due to unprecedented traffic to the NNPC Ltd. career page from applicants applying for vacancies, the site is currently experiencing slow load times.
“Our technicians are working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly as possible. Please be assured that the application process deadline remains August 20, 2024.”
The NNPC also assured applicants of a transparent, merit-based recruitment process and encouraged qualified Nigerians to seize this exceptional opportunity.
In another post, it said, “Our team is working assiduously to accommodate the surge of applications.
“While we acknowledge the keen interest of Nigerians in having an exciting career experience with us, we reassure all Nigerians of a transparent and merit-based recruitment process.
“We therefore encourage capable Nigerians to take maximum advantage of this unique opportunity.”
NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Femi Soneye, earlier on Friday said, “NNPC Ltd is pleased to announce that we are currently hiring for multiple positions across various departments. We are seeking talented and dedicated individuals to join our team. Visit our careers page for application instructions.”
