Mentally Derailed Woman Delivers Set of Twins, Benue Govt Takes Custody

A mentally derailed woman has given birth to a set of twins on the road in Ipav Mbaikpur, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to one Terkimbi Aerga Terhile, the woman delivered the babies on Monday, December 30, 2024, on Gboko-Katsina/Ala road.

Reports said that the mother and her babies had been taken to a hospital for medical care.

Reports further said that the woman threw the first child on the road before people came and picked the child up.

In a related development,
Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, the Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), has launched a compassionate initiative to assist the woman.

Comrade Asortar James Asortar, SA to the State Governor on Social Media disclosed this in a statement.

He said: “Recognizing the urgent need for medical attention and support, Dr. Hwande has directed that the mother and her newborns be brought to BSUTH for comprehensive care.

“This initiative underscores Dr. Hwande’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian services and the welfare of the community.

“The hospital is prepared to provide the necessary medical assistance and support to ensure the well-being of both the mother and her infants during this critical time.”
