The management of the Karmo District Market has debunked a photo story credited to Thisday Newspaper wherein the photograph of the newly built Karmo District Market was publishef for its story titled ”Karmo market on fire’
A statement made available to NATIONAL WAVES by the management of Karmo District Market stated that the old Karmo market was on fire and not the new Karmo District Market.
The statement reads “With Reference to the publication from Thisday newspapers newspsper published on 17th January 2024, indicating our Karmo district market in Abuja was on fire. The said misinformation was published where Karmo district market picture was used to represent the scene of the inferno.
“The incidence since the publication had degenerated to untold anxieties and panic among our numerous customers and business partners alike querying authencity of the information.
“The management of Karmo district thereby debunked and condemned in totality the said publication, we stated unequivocally that Karmo district market is a different entity from incidented Karmo market,and that the fire incidence happened at Karmo market and not Karmo district market.
“The general public is hereby advised to disregard and considered the publication and the picture as pure misinformation. In addition, we avowed and prioritize as always adequate security facilities to keep life and properties safe in our market environment.
We therefore request that Thisday newspapers management publish a rejoinder to correct the misinformation to ensure that general public and readers acknowledged the errors in circulations.”
It would be recalled that the old Karmo market was gutted by fire recently.
