A Kano State High Court on Tuesday sentenced a Chinese man, Geng Quandong, who is being prosecuted for murder of his Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Buhari popularly known as Ummita to death by hanging.
After the prosecution proved the alleged murder beyond reasonable doubt, the court ruled that Quandong, 47, was found guilty of the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State and convicted accordingly.
On September 16 2022, Quangrong stabbed a 23-year-old girl to death at her family residence in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
Recall that outrage and anger trailed the gruesome murder of Ummita, who was on one-year mandatory service to Nigeria with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The deceased was buried around 10am last Saturday, according to Islamic rites.
The mother of the 23-year-old lady revealed that the Chinese national first pushed her down when she opened the door for him after he had banged on it several times. She immediately rushed to her daughter’s room where he stabbed her to death.
