Rising up from an emergency joint meeting held in Abuja, the seat of the Federal Capital, on Saturday June 12, 2021, the Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) and the Association of the Eze Ndigbo in the 19 northern States of the Federation has unanimously thrown their weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari led government urging him to ensure that Nigeria is led in Unity, Peace and Justice for the overall development of the country.

In the Communique issued at the end of the crucial meeting, the activities of the   Indigenous People of Biafra, otherwise known as IPOB was strongly condemned, including their secessionist quest and therefore irrevocably dissociate themselves from those invidious acts.

The Communique signed by Chief Chi Nwogu, President General of the Igbo Delegates Assembly(IDA), His Majesties Eze Pampas Ngozi Wahiwe , Chairman of the Eze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States and FCT and Eze Boniface Ibekwe, Eze Ndigbo Kano and President of the Eze Ndigbo in Diaspora critically examined the current State of the Nation and denounced the on-going killings, banditry, kidnapping, destruction of government property, robbery and unlawful activities of herdsmen.

They therefore charged the President Muhammadu Buhari led government to deploy all the lawful apparatus to secure the unity, security and development of all parts of Nigeria.

The Communique noted that all Nigerians are free to live and engage in any lawful business, and similarly acquire and develop property in any part of Nigeria; they charged that nobody or group of persons have the right to prevent such rights.

Going further, the Communique called on the people from the Eastern part of Nigeria to desist from all acts or omission that would endanger the lives of their people in the North or other parts of Nigeria.

“We condemn and dissociate ourselves from the wanton killings and destruction of property in the Eastern Nigeria and urge that no Nigerian should associate us with same”, the Communique stated.

Nevertheless, the Communique called for support for the rightful demand of the Igbos for a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction come 2023, notwithstanding the political party.

The Communique then passed a vote of confidence on the authentic body of Igbo Delegates Assembly (Igbos in the 19 Northern States of Nigeria and the FCT, Abuja, and the Association of Eze Ndigbo in the North and FCT, Abuja);

The Communique maintained that Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide is the apex body and there should be no proliferation in any part of the North;

The Communique then dissociated itself from individuals or group of persons masquerading as Ohaneze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States and FCT, Abuja while at the same time affirming the expulsion of one Eze Ibe Nwosu from the Association entirely.
