Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that he slept inside the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the eve of the Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s wedding.
Akpabio, a former Minister of the Niger Delta, and also former governor of Akwa Ibom state made this known this on Thursday during plenary at the National Assembly.
Akpabio said Natasha’s husband was his good friend, noting that his attendance at their wedding is an evidence of his closeness to the family.
He said, “ I slept in Dangote cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in a poor state.
Recall that the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions had recommended the suspension of the Kogi lawmaker for six months.
The committee also recommended that the Senator representing Kogi Central must apologise to the Senate for “disrespecting the Senate.”
During the period of the suspension, the committee stated that her salary and security details would be withdrawn.The committee also recommended that Senator Natasha should not be seen anywhere around the National Assembly during her suspension period.
Following the recommendation, the Senate adopted the resolution, and the Senate President announced the suspension of the Kogi lawmaker.
