The late chief of staff to President Muhammudu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari adhered strictly to the rules laid down by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus disease and this much he displayed at the diplomatic room of the presidential office complex, Abuja, 72 hours before he was diagnosed to be infected with the disease.
National WAVES gathered that President Buhari was scheduled to meet with the chairman of ECOWAS Commission, Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, by 3 p.m .on Friday, March 20, 2020,
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, was part of the meeting and was already seated when his boss, Mallam Kyari sauntered into in the room and greeted him; he observed the no hand-shake rule which was the saving grace of Mr. Adesina.
Mallam Kyari later tested positive to coronavirus.
This much was revealed by the President’s media aide in a tribute to the deceased. Adesina stated that when he rose up to greet his boss, Mallam Kyari, he responded thus
“Femi, how are you? They said we should not shake hands again,”. Rather jocularly, he extended his right foot. I touched his foot with my own, and we both laughed. Leg-shake instead of handshake’
Mr. Adeshina would have contacted the virus if Mallam Kyari had not strictly adhered to the rules.
