A member of the House of Representatives and Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Warri Federal Constituency, Hon Thomas Ereyitomi is allegedly enmeshed in certificate scandal. He has been dragged before an Abuja Federal High Court for filling alleged Invalid School Certificate before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The case with Suit Number: FHC/ABJ/65/1347/2022 is instituted by Mr Kelly Emiojerenre Esuku and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The suit joins Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), National Headquarters, Abuja and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as defendants.
The plantiff, Mr Esuku is calling for the court resolve on the following issues to wit, “Whether the 1st Defendant who does not have a valid school certificate is qualified to contest the 2023 General Elections for Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
“Whether the 1st Defendant is a fit and proper person to vie for the post of candidate for the elections into the House of Representatives and be elected into the House of Representatives for Warri Federal Constituency.
“Whether it is not a contravention of the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended for the 1st Defendant who does not have a valid school certificate to contest for the post of Member, House of Representatives representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.”
Efforts to make the lawmaker react to the story proved abortive as he was yet to react to our enquiry as at the time of filling the story.
