The traditional ruler of Asamokwu community, Obi Okwudiki Odumodu, has been beheaded by hoodlums in a community crisis that resulted from a disagreement that erupted over the sharing formula of a derivation fund.
This much was disclosed by the Delta State Police Command through the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe on Friday in Asaba.
Obi Odumodu was beheaded on Thursday during a crisis that erupted between the two communities in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Recall that the hoodlums that beheaded the monarch also ambushed four soldiers and killed three on the spot while others who sustained injuries were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba, as a result causing tension in the community.
But in a new development, the state police PPRO said, “It was community crisis. They are dragging allocation that came from one of the oil companies in that area.
“The monarch was killed at the point of argument between his community and an adjoining community over the sharing formula of a derivation fund.
“The communities are having disputes over the derivation. The two factions are having a disagreement. So, it is community crisis.”
Edefe said that efforts are ongoing to restore normalcy in the community, adding that no suspects have been arrested
