A former Commissioner for Higher Education in GovernorSherrif Oborevwori’s cabinet, Joan Mrakpor has been kidnapped by gunmen.
The gunmen who kidnapped the former commissioner and her children reportedly killed two police orderlies attached to the former commissioner, leaving others with bullet wounds.
Mrakpor had resigned her appointment to enable her younger brother to contest the chairmanship election of Aniocha South Local Government Council.
Her resignation was on account of a series of protests against the siblings over her brother’s interest in the chairmanship position while she held a position in the state cabinet.
She was kidnapped around 4 pm on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen on the premises of her church, ‘Jesus and 1’, off DBS Road in Asaba.
It was gathered the gunmen who ambushed Mrakpor, shot indiscriminately during the attack to scare people away before she was whisked to an unknown destination.
