This is unbelievable but real. It is the story of how eight out of 30 lawmakers in Benue State House of Assembly have commenced the process to impeach the Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom.
Prior to this development, the eight lawmakers had taken over the premises of the assembly with the support of the police.
This was confirmed by Tahav Agerzua, the governor’s spokesperson.
“They have taken over the House of Assembly and served the governor an impeachment notice despite a court order forbidding them from doing so,” Mr Agerzua said
Agerzua added that George Akume, a former governor and an APC senator from Benue State, was the one who brought police officers from Abuja to impeach the governor.
This is as a result of the governor’s defection from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
