With less than 24 hours to the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship primary elections,  the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, and a PDP governorship aspirant, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is allegedly enmeshed in certificate scandal

NATIONAL WAVES gathered that there are discrepancies in the certificates attached to his nomination forms. Sources squealed that the discrepancies have to do with his name as it appears on his certificates.

Based on this development, a case has been filed by Kanabe Ovie Duke and Osigidi Amos at the Federal High Court Abuja. The duo are  asking the court to determine if, “in view of the provisions of Section 177 (d) of the Constitution and the educational certificates and other documents attached to the PDP nomination form submitted by Mr Oborevwori, he is qualified to be nominated as gubernatorial candidate of the party.”

In a related development, another case was filed in Asaba, Delta State,  The Delta suit before a Federal High Court in Asaba is numbered FHC/ASB/CS/78/2022. It has Mr. Ojei Victor Obianuju, Maize and Associates Farmers as plaintiff, while Sheriff Oborevwori Francis, PDP, and INEC are the defendants.

The affidavit in support of the originating summons was made available to this medium.
In the affidavit, the plaintiff alleged that the 1st defendant, Oborevwori, wrote his primary six examination in 1977 with the name Oborevwori O. Francis, while he wrote his West African Senior School Certificate Examination in June 1999 with the name Oborevwori O. Francis.
They also alleged “that the 1st defendant obtained his first degree from Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State on July, 14, 2004 with the name Oborevwori Sheriff Francis.
“That the 1st defendant obtained his certificate of exemption from National Youth Service Corps on March 10, 2005 with the name, Oborevwori Sheriff F.
“Also in 2009, obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science from Delta State University, Abraka with the name Oborevwori Francis Sheriff Orehwedor on September 24, 2010.”

,They are seeking clarification if PDP and INEC are in order to clear Mr Oborevwori to participate in the primary because of the alleged discrepancies.

The Speaker who reportedly enjoys the support of the Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is literally running from pillar to post to ensure he wriggles out of the allegation. He has allegedly asked his supporters to file a case in court aimed at rescuing him from the mess.

Sources hinted NATIONAL WAVES that these discrepancies may hamper Mr Oborevwori’s chances in the primary. “What is certain is that should he emerge as the PDP candidate, the alleged discrepancies will be a ground for other parties to contest his election in court if he wins the general election”  said a dependable source.
