Gov. Adeleke’s Crony, Oyeyemi, Spends Day One In Prison Over Alleged Terrorism, Murder

Olalekan Oyeyemi, a close associate of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state, has been remanded in the correctional facility, Ile-Ife over alleged terrorism and the alleged killing of four persons.

Olalekan who is popularly known as ‘Emir’ was appointed by Adeleke as a member of the Disciplinary Committee for Osun State Public Transportation System shortly after he was sworn in 2022.

He was arraigned at Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state on ten count charges of terrorism and murder.

The police prosecutor, Umar Rabiu disclosed that Olalekan committed the offences on February 27th, August 22nd and November 28th 2022 in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

He stated: “Olalekan conspired to wit Act of terrorism by being armed with guns, terrorising All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters and other residents at Orita CMS, Ayepe and Ayetoro in Osogbo thereby killing Muraina Olayiwole, Tope, Tajudeen Rabiu and Oyewale Sharif.

“The accused person blocked one Golf car with registration number BD 468 BDJ driven by one Oyebanji Kazeem with his bus in the company of thugs, the driver narrowly escaped death. He also burnt down the vehicle based on political differences.”

Rabiu noted that the offences contravened Sections 26(1)(a), 2(2), i, h, of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Meanwhile, Olalekan pleaded not guilty to the offences pressed against him as his counsel, Edmund Biriomoni filed a formal bail application for him.

The prosecutor from Inspector General of Police, Rabiu noted that he would need more time to reply and file a counter application of bail by the defence counsel.

The presiding Judge, Justice Emmanuel Ayoola ordered that the accused person be remanded in Ile-Ife correctional facility and adjourned the matter to March 19, for a hearing of the bail application.
