The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has officially opened its National Secretariat in Abuja. The inauguration of the secretariat took place on Thursday, 2022. Elder statesmen, Chief Olu Falae, founding chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, former liaison officer to President Shehu Shagari were on hand for the inauguration. They campaigned for the SDP Presidential Candidate, Prince Adebayo Adewole, describing him as the best for Nigeria.
The Party Chieftains, kicked against election ringing in the forthcoming election,“With the new electoral act is an opportunity for the SDP to make a mark as room for rigging, vote allocation has been tackled.”
Falae said, when they decided to revive SDP, some people thought it was going to be impossible but they did it without litigations. The party may not have a governor today, may not be in Aso rock; we have a good Presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo did not only show the knowledge of law but history, anthropology, architecture and other fields.”
“Nigeria is in crisis as a result of failed leadership. You can’t move without being kidnapped. I have been kidnapped for four days on my own farm. In those days I traveled to Lagos on foot as a young man without being kidnapped, But at 77, I was kidnapped.” Falae said.
While speaking at the inauguration of the secretariat, SDP presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo said the party has young, vibrant and intelligent people who can turn things around.i“What SDP is bringing to Nigerians is just the white horse which signifies victory and prosperity. If you want to know – if I will be a better president, chose SDP as a platform, ignore money bag political parties. I’ve chosen a Youth banker, Yusuf Salisu Buhari as my running mate.We are back, 30 years later, to open this office for truth, justice and farewell to poverty.” Prince Adebayo said.
Elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, urged the party to move to the grassroots and campaign adding that with the new electoral act 2022, no one will be able to rig the election.
However, controlling government is not controlling party. “Ask other parties, what is their philosophy, they don’t know it, they don’t have a plan, that’s why things are getting worse. SDP is the only party that can restructure, revive Nigeria. If things are not put right more people will leave the country just the way our Doctors are leaving”.
Yakasai who was represented by the SDP gubernatorial candidate in Adamawa State, Dr Umar Ardo stated. He further noted that electoral act made it impossible for anyone to rig the election.“What is put in the ballot box is what will be out and announced to the public. Don’t worry about not having governors. Go, talk to the grassroots because they are tired of APC and PDP, they are after alternatives.
The national chairman of the party, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam while delivering his goodwill message of Nigeria former President Ibrahim Babangida, urged the party to go and conquer since it was established during his administration.“I am happy because one of the parties established during my administration is still alive. Keep hope alive, you can navigate through and bring change, ” IBB said
“We don’t concede defeat. There is no defeat in our dictionary. We started from a very difficult environment. All of us, let’s forget our sentimental issues if we really want to save Nigeria, ” Gabam said.
Former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairmanship aspirant, Prof Tunde Adeniran, said weak institutions spread insecurity which is steering the people on the face.“Our situation, as one can see, required great efforts. That’s why we have a lot of people today who are not members of the SDP but want to put things right.
Prince Adebayo, stated that SDP has the young person as the national chairman, assured Nigerians that the opportunity they have been looking for is here. “We have come to realized that politics is about numbers, in all the 774 LGAs, wards – We have a good chance to deliver, where Nigerians will have sound Medical care, Security, Education. Because poverty is ungodly and unnatural. If we don’t fight poverty, it will produce children, which is insecurity.
