El Rufai while disclosing why the Governors rejected the Federal Government out-of-court settlement term said Information available to the governors indicate that the Mint will need at least 12 months to print the minimum amount of N1trillion needed to ensure a functioning trade and exchange environment in Nigeria.”
The statement read in part “Information available to us (the governors) indicate that the Mint will need at least 12 months to print the minimum amount of N1trillion needed to ensure a functioning trade and exchange environment in Nigeria.”
El Rufai’s submission is contrary to NSPM claims that it has the capacity and materials to print the new naira notes.
The NSPM in statement signed by Its managing director, Ahmed .A. Halilu and made available to NATIONAL WAVES said “ It’s false claims to say NSPM does not have the capacity to print the new naira notes”
NSPM further said ” We wish to further assure Nigerians that NSPM has made adequate arrangement to continuously produce redesigned banknotes as well as other denominations in line with the CBN indent for the year 2023″
