Lucky Igbinedion

13 years after the former Governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion was convicted for embezzling 2.9 billion naira ($21.33 million), after pleading guilty to one count charge of corruption in a plea bargain at a Federal High Court, Enugu and was jailed six months with an option of paying N3.5 million ($25,754), The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rearrested the former governor and currently interrogating him over another N1.6billion fraud.
The former governor who arrived the headquarters of the EFCC at Jabi, Abuja around 2pm, November 11, 2021 was still being quizzed as of the time of filing this report.
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the Commission, who confirmed the invitation of the former governor declines further comment
It would be recalled that Igbinedion after being convicted refunded N500 million and also forfeited three properties, including one in the federal capital territory, Abuja.
The EFCC vowed to appeal the judgement but never did.
Igbinedion was governor of Edo Stae from 1999-2007.
