I
In recent months, the distinguished Senator representing Delta North at the Senate has come under unfair criticism from hatchet jobbers acting the script of some power brokers in Delta state. His only sin is his consistent strident call for good governance in the state, the need to pursue people -oriented policies and complete projects that will impact positively on the lives of the Deltans.
But this disposition of the Senator and his hunger for the happiness of his people have drawn the ire of authorities in the state.
Nwoko’s interventions have always been on the need to give Delta people quality dividends of democracy. It’s befuddling to this newspaper how such interventions have become a cardinal sin such that an avalanche of hack writers have been unleashed upon the man whose only sin is calling for good governance.
It would seem the Delta authorities do not believe in cooperation with interested stakeholders to move the state forward. Lives of the people should not be reduced to politics, thus it’s crass incompetence and feeling of insecurity for any government to discount good advice and overtures on development from critical stakeholders.
NATIONAL WAVES is persuaded on the concerns of the Senator for Delta to toe the line of development, nothing sheds light on this trajectory than his various parliamentary interventions which have benefited Delta largely because of his influence, not to talk about his constitiency projects too numerous to mention.
According to the Senator the dysfunction in Delta PDP forced him to crosscarpet to APC. If the governor had adopted a collegiate approach the Senator would still be in PDP.
We call on the governor not to allow selfish people create a wedge between him and influential Deltans who mean well for the state whenever they extend overtures to him on how to move the state forward. After all, he is the governor and whatever development stride that comes now will be to his glory and history will remember him for what ever he has done or failed to do.
Senator Nwoko is not a small fry, Delta state needs people like him. Whatever happens he remains an icon in the state and beyond, it’s high time we did away with politics of bitterness and embrace peace and cooperation. If anything Senator Nwoko should have been one of the influential Deltans that the governor should be consulting on the way forward, given the former’s experience, international exposure, contact and national influence. Let the governor and the Senator sheath their swords.
