Dare devil robbery syndicate which specializes in attacking banks met their waterloo as they invaded the Mpape, Abuja branch of First Bank.
National WAVES gathered that policemen and soldiers surrounded the bank to arrest the robbers shortly after they invaded and were trapped in the bank.
Four suspects were arrested while one was gunned down while trying to escape and this was corroborated by ASP Yusuf Mariam, FCT Police Command Deputy Public Relations Officer, in a statement.
“Four suspects were arrested and one shot dead while trying to escape. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation of the incident”.
First Bank of Nigeria Plc has reacted to the ugly development by commending operatives of the police and soldiers for foiling the robbery attack
This much was disclosed in a statement made available yesterday by the bank’s Group Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications, Folake Ani-Mumuney
‘We wish to inform everyone that the attempted robbery incident that happened at one of our branches in Abuja has been foiled, customers and staff are unhurt and the suspects have been apprehended’
‘The immediate response by the police and military is commendable and we truly appreciate them for their doggedness and commitment’.
