Customers Knock Sterling Bank Over System Failure

Customers of one of Nigeria’s banks, Sterling Bank have continued topour vetuperations on the bank over inablity to carry out online transactions on account of system breakdown.

Based on this harrowing experience, Customers have been lamenting their inability to carry out transactions which were reportedly hanging for the past five days, causing chaos and discomfort for those relying on the bank’s services.

On social media, customers have been venting their frustrations, pleading with the bank to resolve the issue. One customer wrote, “Since Friday! @cenbank pls, come to our rescue. I’m stranded! I’m hungry! I can’t do any transactions on the app. Money sent to me are yet to reflect on the account. I can’t do anything.”

Other customers threatened to close their accounts, saying, “I’m blocking all my accts with you immediately network is restored, seamless banking my foot, adding to Nigerians problems in this hardship.”

Kasim a mechanical engineer based in Magboro, Ogun State told NATIONAL WAVES that one of his customers transferred a huge amount into his Sterling Bank account but he could not access the money.
“I’m very sad at the moment, Sterling Bank wants to ruin my business. I’m supposed to buy some vehicle parts with the money but it did not reflect in my account 24 hours after being transferred. Its so pathetic”

Olayinka Osifodurin- Ogundimu who seemed frustrated by the system breakdown, called out Sterling Bank on her Facebook page about seven hours ago. She wrote “Sterling Bank! Sterling Bank!! Sterling Bank!!!.” Her post attracted relations from her friends. First to react was celebrated journalist, Mr. Mayor Akinpelu, he simply wrote “Useless Bank”. Another of her friend, Ibukun Elizabeth wrote “Sterling Bank show me pepper, its not funny at all”. Ms Morenike Omodutayo reacted “l dey go there tomorrow with Otumokpo”. While Seyi Odewale wrote”My own pass shege banza. I’ve been shit on. Can somebody help with this Sterling wahala”. Uduak Cletus wrote “Dem just fall people hand since on Monday”

One of Nigeria’s top rated Journalists, Mr. Remi Adelowo, took to his Facebook page to register his displeasure over Sterling Bank’s system collapse. He wrote “Upon all this stress, Sterling Bank is showing its customers shege promax. Services practically shut down since Monday on the excuse of an upgrade of its system. A sad story for a once reliable bank”

Meanwhile, NATIONAL WAVES gathered that some customers have threatened to shut down the Iyana Itire  branch of the bank if they do not have access to their money in the next 24 hours.

While responding to the outcry, Sterling Bank apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that they are conducting a system upgrade to improve their services and provide a seamless banking experience. While the bank assures customers that this is a necessary step, the prolonged downtime has left many questioning the bank’s preparedness and ability to manage its systems.

As the situation continues, customers remain stranded, unable to access their funds or conduct transactions. The bank’s response has done little to alleviate concerns, leaving many to wonder when the issues will be resolved
