Comrade Adams Otakwu

The Conference of Civil Society of Nigeria has condemned the recent situation in Nigeria where the peaceful agitations by the youths were hijacked by hoodlums and eventually turned violent with lives and properties destroyed.
A statement issued by Comrade Adams Otakwu says, ‘this development is very sad, considering the fact that the original concern of the protest ( which was to end police brutality) was shared by almost all, until it assumed the current sad dimension’.
He further stated that, this has left us without any other option than to urge on all civil societies, citizens groups, our vibrant youths, the social and traditional media, Nigerians in Diaspora, state Governments, Federal Government and all Nigerians to consider the soul of our country and quickly douse the tension.
Comrade Otakwu said, ‘we must not allow the country to go aflame. That collectively as citizens and government preserve the soul of Nigeria own the country.
‘The civil society welcome the expression of commitment on the part of the federal government to meet five demands of the protesters as well as the willingness to engage with citizens and groups’.
He concluded that we must not allow further loss of lives and properties.
