The six month old administration in Imo State under the watch of Emeka Ihedioha came under severe scrutiny Wednesday in Abuja by some Coalition of Civil Societies and returned a verdict of well done on the governor
The CSOs which came under the name of Coalition for the Advancement of Good Governance (CAGG) observed that Governor Ihedioha has so far acquitted himself in delivering dividend of democracy to the people of Imo State
Addressing a press conference, the President of CAGG, James Okoronkwo, noted that the robust performance of Ihedioha was a sharp contrast of the unenviable outings that characterised the eight year rule of Senator Rochas Okoroacha
Okoronkwo gave kudos to the new administration in Imo in the areas of payment of salaries and pensions, prudent management of public funds, provision of adequate security which gave birth to “Operation Iron Gate”, vigorous pursuit of the provision of quality infrastructure
Continuing, Okoronkwo remarked; “This is a State where the common patrimony of Imolites was domiciled in the family of the former governor.
“In which there was absolute financial recklessness, gross fiscal indiscipline, contract bazaar to family members of the then governor, unbelievable infrastructural decay and general resignation to fate by the people of the State”, he emphasised
To clearly understand how terrible the situation was, he alleged that the government of Rochas Okoraocha operated about 240 bank accounts before May 29, 2019
He commended the efforts of the present government in Imo to reposition the State for optimal delivery of democratic dividends to the people
“As at May 29, 2019,” he noted that “the Imo state government was in arrears of 80 months of pensioners’ entitlements
