The Director, Department of the FCT, Social Development Secretariat, Dr. Agnes Auta Hart, has warned all social vices offenders, especially those targeting the vulnerable in the Federal Capital Territory, to steer clear or bear the brunt.
In a chat with National WAVES in her office recently, she declared that “Social vices offenders especially those that target vulnerable and the child would be severely dealt with, adding that her office is re-invigorated and have received the marching orders from the Hon. Minister of FCT, Muhammadu Bello to fish out and punish offenders in the Territory.
She expressed satisfaction with the FCT Family court for various gender abuse offences and all stakeholders are now prepared more than ever before. Therefore “tough times await offenders in the FCT, with options to abstain from gender, vulnerable and child abuse, or relocate from FCT peacefully. She expressed her worries over prevalence of rape nationwide and the increasing rate of child and the vulnerable abuse in the territory, with many of such cases reported and being investigated by her office, while she vowed to nail offenders culpable by the wrath of the law.
She reiterated that the administration of Malam Muhammadu Sanni Bello has zero tolerance to any form of social vices, in particular, abuse or violation against any resident or especially women and children in Abuja and its environ, no perpetrator will go scot free. “The department today can boast of dynamic leadership, a strong legal team, sexual and gender based response team”.
Hart stressed that the FCT Gender department had prosecuted several offenders in recent times, and the investigation of several others on-going. Recently the department parade some violators like: A couple Mr. and Mrs.Onoja, Ade Okanba and several others.
