Former President Goodluck Jonathan has rejected the nomination and expression of interest forms that a Northern group of the Fulani extraction Normadic Pastoralists and the Almajiri Communities bought for him.
Recall that NATIONAL WAVES had reported how the group acquired the forms in Abuja on Monday night. This development took a lot of Nigerians by surprise. Many wondered how Jonathan who’s not a member of APC could be dragged into vying for the presidency under the platform of the party.
Jonathan however rejected the form in a statement issued on his behalf hours after news of the form purchase went viral, Jonathan said he did not know those behind it.
The statement signed by Ikechukwu Eze
Media Adviser to former President Jonathan read “It has come to the notice of His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, that a group has purportedly purchased Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms, of the All Progressives Congress (the APC), in his name.
We wish to categorically state that Dr. Jonathan was not aware of this bid and did not authorize it”
“While we appreciate the overwhelming request by a cross-section of Nigerians, for Dr. Jonathan to make himself available for the 2023 Presidential election, we wish to state, that he has not in anyway, committed himself to this request”
” We thank the general public for their concern, as we continue to encourage citizen participation in the affairs of the country”
