Blackouts In Nigeria As National Grid Collapses Again

Major cities in Nigeria experienced blackout as the national power grid collapsed for the third time in a week with the power generaton falling to zero MW.

According to NATIONAL WAVES findings, Enugu Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan, Kaduna and other parts of the country experienced blackouts.

As at the time of filing this report there was no official reaction from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

Recall that last Wednesday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that supply had been restored to the Abuja axis and other major distribution load centres nationwide after national grid collapsed on Monday.

TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, had disclosed this in a statement, adding that ongoing restoration of the national grid was still ongoing and almost completed.

The national grid collapsed on Monday triggering nationwide blackout as distribution companies declared lack of supply to their customers.

TCN also confirmed the development noting that national grid experienced a partial disturbance, on Monday, 14th October 2024 at about 6:48 pm.
