Dr Wale Babalakin

Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN, may have preempted the report of the special visitation panel, which he viewed as unfavourable and might culminate to his sack.
Based on this assumption, Babalakin Thursday resigned from the governing council.
His resignation was confirmed by his spokesman, Mikail Mumuni a few hours after the Special Visitation Panel appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari to look into the leadership crisis rocking the university submitted its report in Abuja.
The federal government is however yet to make the recommendations of the panel public.
Babalakin and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Toyin Ogundipe were engaged in a protracted battle which culminated in the council’s controversial decision to remove him from office. That decision threw the school into a leadership crisis as Professor Ogundipe, the Senate of the institution and the lecturers’ union rejected the decision, saying the Council acted without following due process.
