President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua (FNSE) as the acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
He is appointed in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Managing Director and members of the Governing Board for the NDDC.
President Buhari had earlier on Thursday ordered the sack of Effiong Akwa as the Sole Administrator of the NDDC.
Akwa’s sack was contained in a statement by the Director of Press, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Patricia Deworitshe, on Thursday.
No reason was given for the removal of the NDDC boss, who was appointed in October 2021.
The statement also noted that President Buhari ordered the constitution of a new management team and Governing Board of the NDDC.
According to the statement, the Board nominees will be announced later.
