The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its eight month old strike. Recall that NATIONAL WAVES reported that ASUU would call off the strike on Thursday going by the Appeal Court ruling which stated that ASUU should call off the strike within seven days.
Though the union is yet to make an official pronouncement, our correspondent gathered that the decision was taken at the end of the National Executive Council meeting which was held at the ASUU secretariat in Abuja.
A reliable source who attended the NEC meeting informed NATIONAL WAVES ‘that the strike has been suspended “Yes, it has been called off”.
The source added that “the President of ASUU, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke is expected to release an official circular regarding the suspension of the strike this morning”.
