The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s movement was restricted and he placed under temporary house arrest by the police on Friday to prevent him from attending attending the planned APC mega rally in Benin.
In a related development, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu had on Thursday suspended the rally organised to welcome a former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu and his loyalists to the APC.
Sources informed National WAVES that the State Commissioner of Police, Lawal Tanko Jimeta went to Oshiomhole’s residence on Friday and stopped him from attending any rally in view of the prevailing security situation and the coronavirus pandemic
“I can tell you for free that the rally did not hold and Oshiomhole was placed under house arrest, the CP told him that on account of the security situation in the state, he was advised to remain indoor’
The source continued ‘We all know that the deadly coronavirus has killed so many people all over the world and some people are here talking about mega rally, this idea is not people’s oriented, it is selfish and should be condemned. Oshiomole and his group did not put the consequences of organising such rally at this time into consideration’
Journalists, artistes and musicians who had converge on the venue of the proposed rally were dispersed by the police
