Amidst Hardship, Gombe Approves N14.9bn For New Governor’s Residence

Amidst hardship that is takng its toll on majority of Nigerians, the Gombe State Executive Council on Tuesday approved the spending of 14.9 billion for an ultra-modern governor’s residence.

The council slso approved billions of naira for High Court and House of Assembly complex.

The council meeting, presided by the state governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, also approved the spending of N10 billion for the construction of roads in four local government areas of the state.

Tilde Mijiyanwa, the state information commissioner disclosed the resolutions of the State Executive Committee to journalists.

He said the expenditures were approved by the committee after careful scrutiny.

Mijiyanwa said, “The Council approved N14 billion for High Court complex, N14 billion for House of Assembly Complex, N10.4 billion for roads; there is ultra-modern governor’s residence of about N15 billion.”

Similarly, Usman Kalamu, Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, said, “The ultra-modern High Court is N14 billion.

“For the House of Assembly, it’s N14.23 billion, that of governor’s residence is N14.9 billion. Governor’s Lodge is going to be built there when the people vacate the places.”

He said work will commence in earnest following the approval.

“Council approved construction of Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corps offices accommodations,” he added.

Kalamu listed the council areas to benefit from the 77km road construction worth N10.4 billion as Kwami, Funakaye, Nafada and Yamaltu/Deba.
