The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Medical Services, AIG Habu Sani Ahmadu, was recently honoured by the West African Health Correspondents, the well-mannered cop was honoured during the biennial conference of WAHC which took place at the MovenPick, Accra, Ghana on the January 12, 2018.
The theme of this year’s conference is: Emerging Methodologies and New Trends in Dealing with Endemics and Pandemics” The sub-regional Experience in the context of Best Global Practices. The guest Speaker, Dr. MC Cain Robertson, A Canadian, Neuro Surgean, Police Cop and author. In his paper described the theme as very apt as the topic searchlights new trends in tackling ravaging epidemics amongst vulnerable groups in the developing countries, while he similarly eulogised the organisers of the event.
In the same vein, the spokesperson of the West African Health Correspondents Dr. Etisien Appiah and the publisher of Health monitor, in his remarks commended the sterling virtues of AIG Ahmadu amongst the other recipients, described Ahmadu as an “exceptional Nigerian police officer, a thorough-bred professional worthy of emulation who rendered selfless service at a most volatile region in Nigeria, the North East, for more than five years providing the essential service to officers and men he did not elope or seek redeployment. A man of high integrity and impeccable records, meticulous and upright in his dealings with superiors, subordinates and well respected by the general public at all formations he served, by so doing, he is a standard bearer for an African cop, an epitome of best global practices”.
The commendation which drew a thunderous applause from the audience against the backdrop of recent knocks given to Nigerian police by some international agencies, thus this recognition goes to show that some Nigerian cops rank amongst the best in the world.
Other awardees at the event were: police commissioner Barry Andy from Sierra leone, and Hedj Barde from Gambia.
