Founder and former presidential candidate of National Action Council (NAC), on Wednesday, declared that it was impossible for the political party to nominate Rev. King Ezenko Chukwuemeka as its presidential candidate for the February 16 poll.
Agoro stated this in a statement he issued in reaction to a newspaper report on Tuesday in which Yemi Ayanlade, NAC’s National Secretary, confirmed Rev. King as the authentic presidential candidate of the party.
Rev. King, the General Overseer of Christian Praying Ministry, Lagos, was sentenced to death by Lagos High Court on January 11, 2007 for the murder of one Ann Uzoh, and the death sentence was affirmed by a unanimous judgement of the Supreme Court three years ago.
Agoro, in the press statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Wednesday, maintained that it was impossible to give the party’s presidential ticket to a man already condemned to death.
According to NAC’s founder, who was the party’s presidential candidate in 2003 and 2007, the newspaper report “smacks a huge blood clot in the brains of the story peddlers.”
The statement reads: ” That Dr. Kings’ presidential ambition posters have flooded some key areas of the federation in particular Abuja and Lokoja, Kogi State, etc are indications that something awry is wrangling with the mentality of most Nigerian politicians whose primary aim of life is how to make quick money, anyhow and anywhere.
“The fact that the matter of NAC mandate stolen by some evil genius is now being challenged on Appeal of SUIT NO: FHC/ABJ/CS/1075/2017 NAC VS INEC ANR before Federal High Court sitting in Abuja must inform the general public why the tricks of those out to make quick money from any source before nemesis surely catches up with them is being played with the impossible to realize story of NAC nomination of Rev. Dr. King as its presidential candidate.
“The hidden reasons behind a man on the death row being hotly peddled by some tricksters and gamesters as a presidential candidate in an election with just 16 days ahead of us time line is a political terrain welcoming task indeed for the well trained, highly tested and experienced new IGP Mohammed Adamu.”
