The immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, has emerged top in the governorship primary election of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He defeated other aspirants in the results declared by Professor Julius Ihonvbere Screening Committee.

According to the results released Thursday night, Agba scored 89 per cent while Hon. Dennis Idahosa scored 87 per cent, Lucky Imasuen and David Imuse scored 86 per cent respectively.

Ernest Umakhihe scored 84 per cent and Monday Okpebholo 81 percent.

Aside from Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma who did not appear before the Committee, the remaining 23 aspirants scored below 80 per cent.

NATIONAL WAVES gathered that the National Working Committee of the APC, embarked on a surreptitious investigation to ascertain the aspirants’ popularity in Edo State.

“A ten-man team, we learnt, was dispatched to the state last weekend to find out from the people who is the most popular aspirant suitable to fly the party flag in the state.

“The NWC’s move is to ensure that it was not pressurized to throw its weight behind an unpopular candidate who will be difficult to sell to the Edo electorates” a dependable source squealed.
